A lifelong interest in photography and design continues to shape the way I build and create.

About My Work

I’ve been working with cameras since I was 11 years old, developing an appreciation for light, composition, atmosphere, and the small details that shape how people experience a moment or a space.

That creative perspective naturally carried into other areas over time: painting, graphic design, web design, and eventually frontend development. While my professional work is rooted in software engineering, I’ve always approached technical work with a strong visual and user-focused mindset. I care not only about how things function, but how they feel to use, how they communicate, and how design choices influence clarity and experience.

Outside of software, I create landscape photography and watercolor paintings inspired largely by rural Ontario, where I live with my partner and our dogs. The forests, lakes, changing seasons, and night skies around me continue to shape both my creative work and my perspective in general. Science fiction, astronomy, and natural landscapes all tend to find their way into the work in one form or another.

LUMEN/lore is the umbrella for that creative side of my life: a personal art and photography project built entirely from my own original work. It also became an opportunity to design and build a complete ecommerce platform myself using React and Next.js, combining both the technical and creative disciplines that have always overlapped for me.

I’ve always believed that creative interests and technical problem-solving strengthen each other. Photography taught me observation and composition. Design taught me balance and communication. Software engineering taught me structure, systems, and execution. Together, they shape the way I approach almost everything I build.

I approach photography the same way I approach engineering: obsessively. I'll wait hours for the right light, hike miles before sunrise, and return to the same location season after season to capture it perfectly. The technical challenges of landscape photography—long exposures, dynamic range, focus stacking—are what keep me hooked.
